Kylie Cosmetics Gloss Review featuring The Fit Foodnista

Hello everyone! I hope you have been enjoying the beautiful weather this week. I have been finishing up my final exams and papers, as has +Rebecca, but we wanted to collaborate on another post for you guys!

Since our first collab Becca and I have been brainstorming ideas for another, and since we both ordered from Kylie Cosmetics when the new ranges launched we thought this was perfect! If you haven't already checked out her blog I strongly suggest that you do, she's absolutely lovely and has a great variety of posts including beauty, healthy eating, and fitness.

Here are Becca's thoughts on her Kylie purchases;
I absolutely love the feel of the gloss… the color is actually beautiful on me! ‘Literally’ is gorgeous. It’s a sophisticated and minimal color. The formula wears well on the lips, is not sticky and doesn’t make my lips feel dry. I feel like this may become a staple in my routine! I’m usually a chapstick kind of girl. As you may know from my skincare routine post, as much as I love makeup and beauty products, I have not been wearing it very often. For days that I do decide to wear makeup, this is the perfect lip product! ‘Heir’ is next on my list!

My final thoughts on the product; I absolutely love the formula and how it feels on the lips it seemed to be long lasting as long as you are not eating (as with any gloss). I reached out to customer service about the brush since it seemed to get worse with use and I would’ve preferred they just sent me a new wand, instead they wanted me to ship mine back for a full replacement. I’m not overly impressed with that, I think I will just hang on to mine and use another brush. I’m still in favor of doe foot applicators, so I probably wouldn’t purchase another unless Kylie switches the brush style.

I’ve been eyeing Kylie’s lip products for some time now but I never seem to manage to snag one. To read more about my obsession with Kylie’s Lip Kits, click here. I do not support everything that the family stands for but I’ve been searching for the perfect nude lip and knew Kylie Cosmetics was my answer. Recently, I’ve been rather lucky and managed to snag her glosses in both: “Like” and “So Cute”, her “Candy K”  and “Koko K”  lip kits and “Heir” her new metallic matte lip color all within the past few weeks. I am super excited for her newest color, “Exposed” which makes it debut today.

I was lucky enough to secure “Like” in the first launch of her glosses. It was the only one still left in stock by time I got on her site. “Like” is the darkest gloss shade. I was worried about this color on me since I am extremely pale, I thought it might look weird. The color itself looks pretty light in the tube but on, it’s a whole lot darker.

The formula is good, but it’s rather thick for a gloss. It has light vanilla scent to it. Since it is opaque, you do not need to layer it. I am pairing the gloss with MAC lip liner in Whirl, which comes pretty close to the color of gloss. The shade doesn't look bad on me but it’s a lot darker than I expected and it gives me a total 90’s sort of vibe. The brush for this product isn’t great but Kylie has since changed it. She is replacing all of the glosses for free.

I snagged “So Cute” in her second launch of the product, so I was lucky enough to get the second applicator which works much better.  “So Cute” is the other shade of Kylie’s glosses and I am 100% in love with this color. Since her glosses are thick, you do not need much of them on. “So Cute” is a great pinky-nude and looks stunning on. It’s the lightest shade on the collection. I much prefer this to “Like”.

Since the color ‘Literally’ is opaque I decided to pick up a lip liner to match. I used NYX’s Nude Beige Liner (SPL857). This liner is not an exact match but I felt it did the job. NYX is a brand I am somewhat familiar with. They state right on the packaging that they are a cruelty free brand… Kylie Cosmetics, on the other hand, does not. I reached out to their customer service team, and they sent me this email.

I was super excited when I was able to purchase a Kylie Cosmetics gloss during their first release. I’m not a huge fan of Kylie, but I do admire her confidence in fashion and makeup, she’s always rocking something a little different.

I picked up the Kylie gloss in ‘Literally’ and upon first impression I thought it might look a little dark on my skintone. The brush (which Kylie stated is being improved and replaced) was a little disappointing. My brush wasn’t totally split like a lot of other buyers took to social media to state, however I do prefer a doe foot applicator. The brush just seems a bit messy.

I am very happy that Kylie chose to have a cruelty free line of products, honestly this makes up for the wonky brush lol. It’s clear from her snapchat that she loves her dogs, so I’m sure having an ethically tested brand is important to her.
