Mantra Mask | First Impressions

Originally, I planned to post a whole lot of skincare posts over the next few months to show you how I'm working on getting my skin wedding-ready. But with wedding planning on pause due to COVID-19, skincare has taken on a new importance in my life. It may sound silly but keeping on top of a skincare routine has helped me to stay grounded and to have a constant to rely on each day.

Mantra Mask couldn't have reached out at a better time, while I tend not to use masks as often as I should these handy little sheet mask packets have made it easy for me to treat myself once a week, and take a few moments to reflect.
Mantra Mask is a line of CBD sheet masks founded by Kim Wellen and formulated by Dr. Hal H Simeroth PhD, a skincare industry expert. The entire line has been formulated without parabens, dyes, or sulfates and includes naturally derived vitamins and other botanical ingredients. The line is also cruelty-free and vegan.

I came across one of Marie Claire's 'Masked & Answered' episodes this week and was happy to find out that Mantra Mask is also a Dove Cameron favorite! Dove is one of my favorite celebrities at the moment, and honestly I trust anything she says when it comes to skincare. She is glowing!

If you've never used a sheet mask before; first cleanse your face, then apply the sheet mask to your dry skin cloth side down, remove the foil backing and let the mask sit while you relax for 15-30 minutes. After you remove the mask you can massage the excess serum into your face and neck or rinse off with water (each packet will give you unique instructions depending on the formulation). I like to follow with a jade roller, then mist with rose water, or another refreshing toner.

As always I've taken a few weeks to review each mask, I used one each week to ensure I could give you a well-rounded review and speak to any positive or negative effects the masks may have had on my skin. Keep reading for my review of a few of the Mantra Mask varieties below!

Repair; Soothe + Heal+ Rejuvenate
Formulated with CBD, Chamomille, MSM, Vitamins B3, B5, C and E
  • First Impressions: I love masks that don't require a rinse afterward, it removes the serum step from my routine, and I also love that my skin has extra time to drink in the serum's benefits. This mask was a real treat to use, and it left my skin feeling fresh, moisturized, and plump. I could see this being a great mask post-acne, especially if you're like me and you're guilty of being overzealous with the extraction tool.
Blemish; Cleanse + Detoxify + Prevent Blemishes
Formulated with CBD, Aspen Bark Extract, and Natural Fruit Enzymes
  • First Impressions: Being honest, I think I have a sensitivity to one of the ingredients because this specific formula made my skin very red. I looked at the ingredients and wasn't able to pinpoint exactly which might have caused the reaction, however, I still want to include this one for you guys because my pores looked super refined after using this mask for just 15 minutes! The pores in my t-zone, specifically my nose, have been a problem area for me since I was 13 so to get such quick results from this mask was insane, just keep in mind this mask may not be the best choice for sensitive skin types like mine.
Collagen; Firm + Plump + Wrinkle Reducing
Formulated with CBD, Collagen Biopeptides, plant-based amino acids, MSM
  • First Impressions: This is the mask that Dove shouts out in her Masked & Answered episode, so I was pretty hyped to try it. While I don't trust myself to sleep in a sheet mask, like Dove suggests. I did try this out for the full 30 minutes and wow! When applied, this mask felt cooling and had a soothing effect, it almost felt like I could feel my skin drinking in the serum (is that possible?!). Does my skin look as glowy as Dove Cameron's?
After using the Mantra Mask Collagen Sheet Mask
Anti-Aging; Instant Firm + Tighten + Lift
Formulated with CBD, Rye seed extract, pomegranate peptides
  • First Impressions: This mask was soothing to apply, and my skin felt supple yet firm after use.
Marine Hydration; Detox + Hydrate + Quench
Formulated with Tahitian seawater, wakame green seaweed powder, spirulina algae powder, sea kelp bio ferment. dead sea salts
  • First Impressions: This may have been my favorite mask out of the bunch. I decided to pamper myself the morning after a long night of zooming with friends. I had cleansed that night, but neglected to follow my full skincare routine and as a result woke up with super dry skin. I gently exfoliated, then followed with this mask and my skin felt wonderful; soft, moisturized and nourished. If you're unsure of where to start, I would highly recommend keeping a stockpile of Marine Hydration Masks on hand for late nights, or wintertime dryness.
