What's In My Beach Bag Featuring Bohemian Island (+ New Cruelty Free Finds!)

Summer is finally here, and I was so excited to visit the beach this weekend! After realizing that I had run out of most of the sun products I had left over from last summer, I decided to try out some new things. I wanted to share my haul with you, since all of my products are cruelty free!

I also reached out to a company called Bohemian Island earlier this year, and was lucky enough to receive a pair of their shorts. I'm so happy to finally be able to wear them, now that the weather has warmed up. Bohemian Island is an awesome company, not only is their clothing super comfy, but they stand for such a great cause! They donate 10% of their proceeds to the Soi Dog Foundation, which is an organization that rescues and cares for thousands of stray dogs and cats in Thailand. I own these super cute shorts, and am so happy to be spreading the word about such a great brand.

I often have a hard time finding a suitable sunscreen in the summer months, I always look for formulas that are both cruelty free, and made without oxybezone. Oxybenzone is an ingredient used in most sunscreens that some say can disrupt hormones and potentially cause cancer. Many sunscreens still contain this ingredient, but after doing some reading I'd rather be safe than sorry.
This past week I tried out The Honest Company's mineral sunscreen, I was worried that since zinc was the main ingredient, that it would be very white and not sink into the skin as easily as most sunscreens, but this stuff worked great! The sunscreen absorbed nicely into the skin, and after applying I didnt seem to burn.

One of the leftover sunscreens I had from last year was one from Australian Gold, which I love because it is oxybenzone and cruelty free, plus it smells like coconuts. However the bottle that I had was only SPF 15, which isn't the best for my fair skin... plus I missed a few spots on the back of my legs so I have a slight sunburn. I applied the honest company sunscreen after I noticed I was burning however, and I did not seem to burn any further.

Earlier today I picked up some SunBum products to help with the sunburn just a bit. I picked up the Cool Down spray, which is an aloe based spray designed to soothe dehydrated and burned skin, as well as the 3 in 1 Leave In, which is supposed to protect your hair from UV rays. I'll update you all later with my thoughts on those!
